Clark Atlanta University School of Business Booth Design for NBMBAA

Graphic design support for a bold, professional conference presence
Clark Atlanta University School of Business needed a booth presence that could stand strong in a high-traffic conference environment while honoring the weight, history, and ambition of the institution.
For the National Black MBA Association Conference, Digital REM supported the visual design of the booth experience, including the back wall, retractable banners, and handout flyers. The goal was to create a cohesive environment that felt polished, institutional, memorable, and aligned with the School of Business’ message.
This was not just about designing individual pieces. The opportunity was to build a visual system that could help Clark Atlanta University show up with clarity, pride, and authority in a room filled with future business leaders, professionals, alumni, partners, and potential students.
Designing for presence
Conference booths have to communicate quickly.
People are walking, scanning, comparing, and making decisions in real time. A strong booth has to do more than look good. It has to help people understand who you are, what you represent, and why they should stop.
For this project, the design direction centered on a bold red, black, and white visual system with strong contrast, clean hierarchy, and institutional confidence. The booth needed to feel modern without losing the legacy of Clark Atlanta University.
The final booth concept included:
A large branded back wall.
Multiple retractable banners.
Coordinated handout flyers.
Clear program messaging.
Strong visual hierarchy.
Legacy-focused brand language.
Consistent use of CAU identity elements.
Building around legacy and momentum
One of the central themes in the design was the connection between history and forward movement.
The booth highlighted the School of Business through a legacy-driven visual approach, including anniversary messaging, program promotion, leadership language, and bold calls to pride and progress.
The visual system was designed to support key ideas such as:
Resourceful. Resilient. Resolute. Rising.
These words gave the booth more than decoration. They created a tone. They helped the environment communicate determination, institutional pride, and forward momentum.
What we designed
Digital REM provided graphic design support for the main booth assets, including:
Back Wall Design
The back wall served as the visual anchor for the booth. It needed to carry the primary message, command attention from a distance, and create a strong photo-ready backdrop for conversations, visitors, and event documentation.
Retractable Banner Designs
The retractable banners helped extend the booth story across multiple touchpoints. Each banner gave attendees a quick way to understand the School of Business, its programs, and its value.
The banners supported messaging around leadership, graduate business programs, business excellence, and legacy.
Handout Flyer Design
The handout flyers gave attendees something tangible to take with them. These pieces supported follow-up conversations and helped extend the booth experience beyond the conference floor.
Strategy behind the design
Our approach was to make the booth feel like a complete branded environment, not a collection of disconnected graphics.
Every design choice had a job:
The large typography created visibility.Attendees needed to understand the message quickly from across the room.
The red and black palette created strength. The colors helped the booth feel bold, confident, and connected to the institution.
The imagery added human connection.Student, graduate, and campus-inspired visuals helped communicate pride, aspiration, and belonging.
The layout created order. Each piece had to be readable, scannable, and useful in a fast-moving event setting.
The full system created consistency. The back wall, banners, and flyers needed to feel like one unified experience.
The outcome
The final booth design gave Clark Atlanta University School of Business a strong, professional presence for the National Black MBA Association Conference.
The booth was built to help the institution show up with clarity, credibility, and pride while supporting real conversations with attendees.
For Digital REM, this project reflects the kind of work we believe in: visual communication that supports opportunity.
Because strong design is not just about how something looks.
It is about what it helps people understand, remember, and act on.
